Scripps Seaside Forum Wedding

Travis & Katherine’s Scripps Seaside Forum Wedding was a vintage military inspired wedding!   As a military couple with many close family members and friends currently serving in the armed forces, it was very important to Katie and Travis to create a Scripps Seaside Forum Wedding that honored and celebrated this aspect of their life.

They had the idea to incorporate a “Freedom to Marry” theme along with a more whimsical vintage wedding by the sea with soft variations of a red, white, and blue palette mixed with the beautiful warm wood of their venue. The result was a wedding both patriotic and romantic, elegant and relaxed, a perfect harmony of their life together.

Special Details:

Rings: Katie doesn’t believe in engagement rings, and opted to wear only a band to match Travis’. They had their fingerprints engraved on the inside of each other’s rings, to keep the other special person close to them always.

Bracelet: “something borrowed” from her mother. It was a gift from her father years ago and had Katie and her sibling’s names engraved on it.

Ankh that was pinned to Katie’s bouquet – “my Father made it for me this fall from an old piece of silver that he’d found from when he was stationed in Vietnam. He made it identical to one he’d made for my Grandmother 30-odd years before.”

Watch: Belonged to Travis’ Grandfather who wore it during World War II

Freedom to Marry letter addressed to Travis & Katie : “To celebrate this joyous and important day, the Bride and Groom have made a donation to Freedom to Marry in your honor. We are so thrilled that loving and committed couples like Katie and Travis have included Freedom to Marry in their wedding celebration, along with their beloved friends and family. Their generous support helps the campaign to win marriage equality nationwide. We are pursuing our road map to victory by working to win the freedom to marry in more states, grow the national majority for marriage, and end national marriage discrimination. We partner with individuals and organizations across the country to end the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage, and the protections, responsibilities, and commitment that marriage brings.”
